The C-word here at CrossFit Basinview is CAN’T! We just don’t like to hear it! Let me explain why!

Roger Banister was the first person who ran a mile under 4 minute. For years and years medical experts claimed that the human body could not run at that pace, it would simply break down. Banister decided that was not the case and ran sub 4 minutes, and since then a number of others have done the same.

Don’t we often tell ourselves and those around us why we can’t do things? Can’t lift weight! Can’t run! Can’t exercise! Our reasoning ranges from legit to bullsh*t but nature is always the same, we consume energy telling ourselves and each other why we can’t. Excuses, reasons, obstacles!

At CrossFit Basinview, we work on a complete mindset shift from “I can’t” to “I can”. It is a movement of the mind to think differently, to choose different words. To choose to think positively in search of all the great reasons why you can do great things in your life, opposed to focusing on the things that -in so many situations, are not real anyway!

So when you think, about goals, about life, about fitness, search not for the why and what you can’t do and achieve, search for the why you can… and enjoy the changes you will see in your life.

But… here’s the disclaimer: Yes, you can do it but it is going to be tough! You have to be ready to go to a place where you haven’t been before. If you are about to lift more weight than you have lifted before this is going to be a new sensation, it’s going to be tough, you have to open your mind to this and be ready to accept that to get what you want you are going to have to work harder than you have done before.

The point here is very simple. Your gym, your workout, your frame of mind! What you did yesterday might not be “perfect”. Quite frankly no one cares and nor should you. If you are searching for excuses, you will find them in every direction that you look. The bottom line is that success and results come to those that show up and get the work done no matter what!
